I have mixed thoughts about this book and wish I could give 3.5 stars. First of all, it was a thoughtful birthday gift from my husband who knows I love all things criminal and British. I was intrigued by the Unclesaurus Rex Shirt --that lurking demon under Victorian trappings that includes infanticide and child murder more often than even a historian can believe. And the story of the investigation is quite intriguing. Yet, I am not sure if the author nails the tone and sequence she sought. The book rambles in some places--and the building of tension is sometimes shaky. I found that the moving into the past and future while not always making sure that the reader has a firm grasp of the present was somewhat problematic.
